Ancient, Taxila, City State Issue, Hiranasame/Doyakadesa (2nd-1st Century BC), Copper Unit, 5.96 gms, 18.37 mm, Obv: Elephant facing front at center, three arch hill (Chaitya) and Hollow cross at left, Railed tree at right, Rev: Horse to left facing an eight arched hill, traces of Kharoshthi legend above six arched hill, three arch hill with crescent above the horse, JNSI, The Local coinage of Taxila and Gandhara, Regarding the Kharoshthi reading on the reverse, it may be noted that there are two suggestions by scholars, namely ‘Hiranasame’ and ‘Doyakadesa’, Mitchner # T24, pg. 66, Pieper # 1572, pg. 238, about very fine, very rare.
