Independent Kingdoms, Durrani, Ahmad Shah Durrani (AH 1160-1186, 1747-1773 AD), Silver Rupee, 11.43 gms, 22.85 mm, Dar al-Khilafat Shahjahanabad Mint (mostly visible at top on rev), AH 1170, RY 11, On the 30th of January, 1757, Jamadi-ul-Awwal 9, 1170, coins were struck in the name of Ahmad Shah Durrani at his mint in the Afghan camp at Delhi, bearing the same inscription, as appeared on his old coins struck at Qandahar and Lahore, with the addition of his regnal year as 11, and the Hijri year 1170, Struck during Ahmad Shah's Fourth invasion of India. Early in 1757 he sacked Delhi, but permitted the Mughal dynasty to remain in nominal control as long as the ruler acknowledged Ahmad Shah's suzerainty over the Punjab, Sindh, and Kashmir, Ref: Ganda Singh: Ahmad Shah Durrani, Father of modern Afghanistan (Bombay, 1959), p. 168, similar to Zeno # 317125, KM # 763, very fine+, very scarce.
