Mughal, Aurangzeb (AH 1068-1118, 1658-1707 AD), Silver 1/4 Rupee, Nisar (Largesse Coinage), 2.82 gms, 13.50 mm, Akbarabad Mint (fully visible at top on reverse), AH 1081, RY (1)3, Obv: Persian legends "Nisar Alamgir Badshah Ghazi", Rev: Persian legend "zarb Akbarabad" , Nisar coins of Aurangzeb are rare ceremonial issues, struck specifically for royal largesse and distribution during festivals, processions, and important imperial occasions, rather than for regular monetary circulation. The term “Nisar” signifies scattering or distributing, reflecting the Mughal tradition of imperial generosity and royal patronage. Their special purpose, limited production, and association with significant events of Aurangzeb's reign make them highly collectible and historically important. The present offering is a 1/4 Rupee Nisar of Aurangzeb (Alamgir I), distinguished by its exceptionally clear and complete legends. The date AH 1081 is clearly visible on the reverse, along with the complete mint name “Akbarabad”, making this a particularly standout specimen. On the obverse, the imperial title “Alamgir”, the regnal title adopted by Aurangzeb, appears alongside the word “Nisar.” Such beautifully preserved and clearly legible Nisar issues of Aurangzeb are seldom encountered, and examples displaying both the complete date and mint name are especially desirable. A rare and highly collectible ceremonial issue, it represents an exceptional opportunity for the serious collector of Mughal numismatics and Aurangzeb's coinage, KM # 306.1, similar to Zeno # 188342, about Uncirculated, very rare.
