Mughal, Muhammad Shah (AH 1131–1161, 1719–1748 AD), Gold Mohur, 10.88 gms, 25.02 mm, Gwalior Mint (fully visible at bottom on rev), AH 1134, RY 4, The offered specimen belongs to the "Badshah Ghazi" type of Muhammad Shah. During his reign, several distinctive royal titulatures were employed on the coinage, including ba-Lutf-Ullah Badshah-i-Zaman, ba-Fazl-Ullah Badshah-i-Jahan, Badshah Ghazi, and Sahib Qiran Sani, What makes this specimen particularly noteworthy is the complete mint name, which is fully preserved and clearly engraved on the reverse, extending from the 4 o'clock to 7 o'clock position—an important feature for accurate attribution and a desirable characteristic for collectors and researchers alike, During the reign of Muhammad Shah, Gwalior remained under Mughal authority, although imperial power in Central India was steadily weakening. The period witnessed the growing penetration of the Marathas into Malwa and the rise of Ranoji Scindia, laying the foundations of the Scindia power that would later become closely identified with Gwalior. The fort itself remained under Mughal control throughout Muhammad Shah's reign and was first conquered by the Marathas in 1754, similar to Zeno # 103877, KM # 438.7, tiny test marks on the edge overall extremely fine, very rare.
