Mughal, Murad Bakhsh (AH 1068, 1658 AD), Silver Rupee, Ahmadabad Mint (visible in left quadrant on obv), AH 1068, RY (Ahd), Murad Bakhsh, youngest son of Emperor Shah Jahan, declared himself emperor in Ahmedabad in 1657 during the Mughal war of succession. Ahmedabad, a major city and the capital of the Gujarat Subah, was strategically important for asserting his claim. Coins in his name, including silver rupees, were minted from this region.
