Ancient, Indus Valley Civilization (mature phase, 2500-2000 BC), Set of 2 Gold Ornamental Diskettes (Nishka), to be strung into a necklace, 00.68 gms, 10.41 mm & 1.47 gms, 12.80 mm, A hoard of these diskettes (Nishka) was found in May 2000 at Mandi in Muzaffarnagar dist, western Uttar Pradesh. The hoard was contained in two bronze containers and included many varieties of spacer beads, hollow terminal beads, single and double bell-shaped beads, and thin circular diskettes (Nishka), similar to these. Many diskettes, delicately manufactured, have milled edges. In addition, the hoard also contained some gold jewellery items also. extremely fine. extremely rare as a set of two diskettes having a weight ratio of 1:2 (i.e. the weight of bigger diskette is double to that of the smaller one, suggesting that these were carefully weighed during manufacturing process and might have surely some transactional value attached).
