Ancient, Gupta Dynasty, Archer type, Vikramadityah (6th Century AD), Gold Dinara, 9.34 gms, 21.12 mm, Obverse: King standing facing holding a bow in left hand and an arrow in right hand, Garuda standard seen behind arrow, Traces of Brahmi legend around, Reverse: Goddess Lakshmi seated facing on a lotus holding a lotus stalk in left hand, Brahmi legend ‘ShriVikramah’ in right field, Attribution of these coins have been challenging owing to no issuer name appearing on the obverse below the king’s arm, However few specimens of this type show in the borders of the Obverse, the word ‘Vikramadityah’, Shivlee places the issuer of this coin between Buddhagupta and Vainyagupta, Shivlee p. 375, Sl No. 3, very fine, very rare.
