Ancient, Malwa (c. 2nd-1st Century BC), Copper Unit, 3.94 gms, 12.99 x 25.70 mm, Obverse: A Makara standard. Four orbed Ujjain symbol on the left, Reverse: Four orbed Ujjain symbol on the left, Brahmi letters in the center reading as “(Vi?)Ba(or Bu?)TaSa”. A faint punch of an animal on the right, The Makara standard is rarely seen on Indian coins. Makara is the vehicle of goddess Ganga and the Makara standard could indicate river worship, Unlisted in major publications, very fine, extremely rare.
