Ancient, City State Issue, Kurapurika, Narmada Valley, Kamshika or Bell metal, 4.07 gms, 20.33 x 21.41 mm, Obv: Tree-in-railing with four compartments, four orb ujjaini symbol, triangular headed standard and traces of other symbol, Uniface, Purika or Kurupurika was a well known city of Avanti area in ancient times.  Purika was situated on the banks of Narmada river and was near the city of Mahishmati.  According to Harivamsa, the city of Purika is placed between two Vindhya ranges.   The city also finds explicit references in Brahaspati Samhita and Markandeya Purana.  Purika seems to have been a rich town.  Many donative inscriptions, mentioning the city, have been found in Bharahut inscriptions.  P.
