British War Medal, George V (1914-1918 AD), Bronze Medal, 25.10 gms, 36.74 mm, awarded to Labour Bhola (943 LABR BHOLA, 74 LAB), these British War Medal 1914-18 was instituted by King George V to mark the end of World War I and record the service given, it was instituted on 26 July 1919 for award to those who had rendered service between 5 August 1914, the day following the British declaration of war against the German Empire, and the armistice of 11 November 1918, the medal with the effigy of George V on the obverse, the reverse has an image of St George on horseback trampling underfoot the eagle shield of the Central Powers and a skull and crossbones the emblems of death above this is the risen sun of victory, the years 1914 and 1918 are incorporated around the edge, MYB # 168, very fine, rare.
