Ancient, Guptas, Samudragupta (335-375 AD), Ashvamedha type, Gold Dinar, 7.34 gms, 21.22 mm, Obverse: A decorated Horse standing to left facing a Yupa (sacrificial post), Brahmi letter ‘Si’ (for siddham/success) below the horse, a crescent on back of the horse, Brahmi legend partially seen around, Reverse: Goddess Rajya-lakshmi standing on a Lotus and facing left, she holds a Chauri(fly-whisk) on her right shoulder, her left hand holds a diadem, a decorated spearin front of the goddess, behind the goddess Brahmi legend reads as ‘Ashvamedha Parakrama’, all within a dotted border, S. Gupta, TOTGE # pg. 202, Ashwamedha Type, Class I, about very fine, very rare.
