Ancient, Taxila, (c. 1st Century BC), Guild Issue, Copper Unit, 3.36 gms, 19.87 mm, Obverse: Top field has a Swastika flanked by Taurines on either side, Bottom field has Kharoshthi legend reading ’Panchanekama’, Reverse: Wheel (Dharma Chakra) at center, Three arch hill (Chaitya) above, ‘Panchanekama’ is a Prakrit word which means a confederation of five guilds, These guild issues are testament of existence of merchants guilds in ancient India, fine to very fine, very rare.
