Delhi Sultan, Muhammad bin Tughluq (AH 725-752, 1325-1351 AD), Gold 1/2 Tanka (Dinar), 5.26 gms, 14.63 mm, AH 726, Obv. al-sultan al-adil, Rev. Muhammad Bin Tughluq Shah. The design of this unique half gold tanka of Muhammad bin Tughlaq is similar to the design of his 10 gani issues (ref. GG-D373) which was also used to strike one-fifth silver tankas (ref. GG-D368). The coin being offered here is unique and is the first known example in gold of a previously unknown fractional denomination in gold issued by Muhammad bin Tughlaq.
