Mughal, Muhammad Shah (AH 1131-1161, 1719–1748 AD), Gold Mohur, 10.93 gms, 21.41 mm, Dar-ul-Khilafat Shahjahanabad Mint (mostly visible at top on rev), AH 1131, RY Ahd, Obv: Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Muhammad Shah, Rev: Mint name Dar-ul-Khilafat Shahjahanabad at top, This first-year issue of Muhammad Shah, AH 1131 / RY Ahad (1719 AD), is distinguished by the “Badshah Ghazi” title. While a substantial portion of Muhammad Shah’s coinage is associated with the celebrated “Sahib Qiran Sani” title, this early Badshah Ghazi issue represents an important variety from the commencement of his reign. The RY Ahad issue is particularly desirable to advanced collectors seeking the early and transitional coinage of Muhammad Shah. A comparable specimen is recorded on Zeno, reference # 240160. An examination of major online numismatic archives reveals very few comparable appearances, adding considerably to its numismatic interest and collectability. The present specimen is being offered by us at auction for the first time, similar to Zeno # 240160, KM # 438.22, multiple test marks on the edge & minor dent on both side overall very fine, extremely rare.
