Mughal, Aurangzeb (AH 1068-1118, 1658-1707 AD), Gold Mohur, 10.84 gms, 27.40 mm, Multan Mint (fully visible at bottom on rev), AH 1074, RY 7, "Mihr Munir" Couplet, Obv: Persian legend "sikka zad-dar jahan chu mihr-e-munir, Shah Aurangzeb Alamgir" and Hijri year 1074, Rev: Persian legend "sana 8 julus" & "zarb Multan" completely visible at the bottom and floral mark, Multan was a major provincial capital of the Mughal Empire during the reign of Aurangzeb (1658–1707). Located on key trade and military routes linking northern India with Sindh, Balochistan, and Central Asia, it served as an important frontier fortress, commercial hub, and revenue-producing region. Multan was also renowned as the "City of Saints," with numerous Sufi shrines that made it a prominent center of Islamic learning and pilgrimage.
