Ancient World, Sasanian Dynasty, Khusro I (AD 531-579), Silver Drachm, 4.00 gms, 29.08 mm, LYW (Rew-Ardashir), RY 35, Khusro I was also known as Anushirvan that means "an immortal soul", he was the greatest of all Sassanid monarchs, he was admired both in Iran and elsewhere for his character, virtues, and knowledge of Greek philosophy. He was identified by some Romans as the true philosopher king. Obverse: Draped bust of Khusro I to right, wearing mural crown with fronted crescent, korymbos set on crescent behind head, Reverse: Fire altar flanked by two attendants with six-pointed star in upper left field crescent in upper right field, very fine, rare.
