Ancient, Guptas, Kumaragupta (415-455 AD), Silver Dramma, 1.93 gms, 12.90 mm, Obverse: Bust of king to right, Reverse: A stylized Garuda at center, Brahmi script around reading “Sri Kumaragupta…..Sri Kumaragupta Mahendra(ditya)”, The reading of the legend makes it clear that ‘Sri Kumaragupta’ repeats twice, hence a case of a rare double strike on the reverse. A close observation also suggests that the central Garuda motif is also appearing twice with the second motif appearing at the 5 O clock position, very fine, rare.
