Government of India uniface 10 Rupees note, dated 9 December 1910, with a red underprint, Calcutta Circle issue and the signature of R. W. Gillen, represents the later phase of British India’s early government-controlled paper currency. Printed on only one side, its distinctive red underprint served as an important security feature against counterfeiting, while the Calcutta Circle designation connected it with British India’s foremost commercial, administrative and banking centre—Calcutta remained the imperial capital until 1911. The substantial 10 Rupees denomination was mainly used for significant commercial and official transactions. According to the PMG Population Report, only seven notes have been certified in Very Fine 30, with merely five examples graded higher, highlighting its considerable scarcity in comparable or superior condition, Serial no.: AB15 88935, J&R # 2A.2.3A.1, Pick # A10e, Repaired, Graded by PMG 30 very fine, rare.
