Ancient, Ujjain, (2nd-1st Century BC), Copper Unit, 6.23 gms, 18.17 mm, Obverse: Standing Shiva holding a staff (danda) in his right hand, Tree in railing on his right, River with fishes below, Reverse: Traces of an undertype showing Standing Shiva holding a staff (danda) in his left hand, Ujjain symbol above, The undertype on the reverse shows an old obverse, This is indicative of planchet reuse and additionally shows the typological chronology in Ujjain. Hence a rare specimen, Pieper # Type 636, very fine, rare.
