East India Company, Victoria Queen, Silver Rupee, 11.66 gms, 30.65 mm, Calcutta Mint, 1840 AD, Divided legend, Mule, WW raised, 25 Berries, this coin was struck from the Rev. die of 1849 by re-dating it to 1840. It is a Calcutta Mint test striking of Wyon’s die which was found to be defective. It is a mule because of the pairing of an obv. die of a currency issue and a re-engraved Rev. die of a 1849 proof issue, Prid # 63, very fine, very rare.
